Transport Case studies
London Underground Acton Town Engineering Workshop
London Underground’s Engineering workshop is an area of continual heavy foot and plant traffic. The disintegrating flooring substrate was high-maintenance - requiring re-painting every 6 months against abrasion and chemical spillage. A tougher solution with greater longevity was required, allowing the site’s productivity to continue virtually uninterrupted.
Recognising the need for top-level protection, eco sw stabilised the substrate with Prokol Epoxy Screed system. This flattened the substrate, levelling the former pitted and uneven surface. Once dry, a 3mm coat of chemical-resistant Prokol pure polyurea was applied in a anti-slip colour finish to suit the requirements of the client. The use of fast-curing products along with application by experienced operatives meant that downtime was minimized and London Underground employees could continue their work.
Leeds Station Concourse
An area of constant traffic, the existing MMA substrate of the concourse at Leeds Station was breaking up. Closing the station to carry out repair works was not an option for this hectic transport hub, so fast-curing Pure Polyurea was an ideal solution. As Prokol approved applicators, we were selected for the project.
With limited budget for substrate replacement, Prokol was able to engineer a bespoke primer to adhere to the existing substrate. Prokol Pure Polyurea was then spray-applied and the area returned to service within seconds.
